Opening game FIFA World Cup

Hello, this is Ken.

Finally, the World Cup has just kicked off.

I didn't realize it until last nigh. But once I stepped into the stadium, I was just amped up !!

As you may be informed of the result of the opening game, I will report it from my own angle.

I entered the stadium before the kick off time (16:00) because I wanted to see the opening ceremony.

On the way to the stadium, I stopped at a Macdonald for my breakfast.

Customers and an attendant with a vuvuzela suddenly started a session.

Even the attendant was getting in to it and it took about 10 minutes for my meal to come out.

This Is Africa!!

Today there was the opening ceremony before the game and not all the spectators headed to the stadium at the same time.

Also we had headed out well ahead of time letting us arrive at the park and ride without getting stuck in traffic.

We walk to the stadium from the parking lot with many other supporters

 South African supporters looking ready

After a short walk the gorgeous Soccer City Stadium appears. Is the main stadium and the opening and final game will be played here.

But around it you can see dirt, somewhat African style

When we got to the stadium, there was a big group of Mexican supporters.

I would like to introduce some of them in interesting outfits.

A man in western style with Tequila in his hand

Somehow in GK costumes. The bright colouring reminds me of Campos.

A shot with a man, rodeo style?

There was a  man wearing a half and half shirt.
The design was one side a local club team, and the other the national team.

This is most likely handmade.
You will be able to make another shirt looking the opposite way, so of you have a friend who agrees with you to this concept, it will not cost that much.

The right side is the Mexican national team,
the left side Club Deportivo Guadalajara.

Some examples of South African supporters.

We bumped in to real life ZAKUMI

A shot with the local volunteers

 Brazilian supporters playing samba cheerfully.

I have met him before when I arrived at Johannesburg airport, so I was able to reunite with him after some time.

I talked to him a little when he was alone.
He seemed pretty tired. I asked him if he would be able to get in with a drum like this.

He said
“Well at other World Cup stadiums, I sometimes can and sometimes cannot”
He told me quietly. It seems he does have his problems.

We mixed with many other supporters in the stands.

When we were chasing a group of beautiful girls, we were asked “Why are you supporting Baffana Baffana when you are not South African?”

I got face painted Mexican style

A shot with some cute South African girls

Is it really the world’s scariest World Cup when kids like them can attend it?

Our rivals, Danish supporters were there

I do not know why we did not see any Japanese supporters today, although we saw a few media related people.

Supporters from all the countries are supposed to come here.

It was nothing other than sad, not being able to see any Japanese supporters here.

The World Cup is only as good if you watch it from the opening game.

A jet plane air show set up the atmosphere of the stadium.

The spectators applaud to the roar of the show.

Totally packed out

The tension has risen behind the goal in our end

Watching the opening ceremony live was not totally exciting but fun times fly.

Kick off !

The stance of this blog is to leave the details of the game to the experts.

So, a few behind-the scene-stories that we picked up.

If you watched the TV, you would have noticed, the vuvuzelas were making massive noise.

Apparently it has been shown medically that listening to such sounds for 90 minutes harms your hearing.

Many of the people are using ear plugs

A suspicious box at the sink in the toilets

What do you think this is?

Actually this is a box of condoms, to prevent HIV.

In the box, there are small packets of condoms.
Each packet has about 10 in it. How big portions.

And so, the opening game. The result was a 1 all draw.

A sensational first goal scored by Tshabalala of South Africa.

He was the MOM of the game

Actually he is the player Ashishi had Tweeted of.

Talking about Twitter, when I was tweeting from the stadium today, it seems like Yomoken’s Twitter had been picked up from Yahoo!Topics.

After the game we bought a take away meal from a street stand and ate it back at our accommodation. It was 50ZAR (around 600YEN), and very tasty.

Many street stands outside the stadium.

Our way home was not dangerous at all.

Of course it may be dangerous if you leave the flow of people, but
It is not a problem if you stick to them to the Park and Ride.
But if you are in crowd of people, be care full of pick pockets or other crimes.

So, this is the end of the Libero style World Cup opening game report.

Because it was the opening game, I put in a lot of effort and made a video!!

This will make you feel like you have visited the world cup as well!
